Hi! I’m Garrett. I’m a writer and organizer. I live in Milwaukee with my wife and two kids. I write about how and why building community is our only hope. I also run trainings where people from across the world learn how do cool things with their neighbors. I love potlucks, both the literal gatherings and the idea of them.
I have a newsletter! It’s called The White Pages and a ton of people across the whole world read it because it makes you feel like, even though the world is really rough right now, there’s still so much we can do.
I wrote a book! It’s called The Right Kind of White and it’s about a lifetime spent trying to prove that I was better than other White people (and how doing so wasn’t all that helpful). If you’re tired of politics as just one self-righteous argument after another, I think you’ll like it.
Oh, and about those trainings…. That’s The Barnraisers Project. They’re free (though I ask for donations at the end), virtual, and you don’t have to be an experienced organizer to take them. I announce new sessions every few months, so sign up for the interest list to learn more (or just poke around our website to get a sense of the vibes).
